There are three basic types: the puffy method, the telescoping method, and the mesh method. The most effective way to use these methods is to purchase a reusable grocery bag and store it in your freezer. All you need is a sharp object and about 10 minutes.

How to Line a Bag

To line a bag, you'll need to find an old shirt or blouse. Lay the bag flat on top of the fabric and use your hands to fully cover the front, middle, and back of the bag. Roll it tightly in opposite directions, holding for about 20 seconds. It should look like a burrito. Now use two layers of heavy duty paper or plastic bags to secure it in place while still rolling. After securing it with more bags around the bottom, flip the whole thing over so that your handiwork is on top, then fold up the bottom edge of the fabric so Line a bag by folding the top edge over to form a pocket. This will make room for the handles of the bag and create a better seal. To line the bottom, first fold one side over to meet at the bottom of the bag. Fold in this side again so that it extends past the top of the bag and then fold both edges inward.

Alternatives to the Simplest Way

This is a great option if you have a bag that doesn't have a zipper, or is too large for your zipper. You can also use this as a way to easily separate out items as they come from the store.
